9/10 … In 1968, Sly & The Family Stone appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show performing the exuberant but little-known album track “Love City.” The following year, they returned to the show for what proved to be a legendary performance, playing an excerpt from their #1 hit “Everyday People” before launching into the iconic “Dance To The Music.” In both episodes, the home viewer was presented with a high energy performance by a band fully engaged with both the audience and themselves. On Sullivan, the band was facing each other just as often as they were facing the cameras. At the center of the action was Sly Stone who, when not playing the organ, was breaking into explosive dance routines on stage, and at one point running into the audience with his bandmate and sister Rose. Clearly this was a band determined to not only win over their audience, but truly own them from beginning until end.

STEELE is a remarkable name in the history of Heavy Metal from San Francisco. They were one of the most cherished bands by the local scene at the time, delivering pure U.S. Metal, as it was done in the early 80s. Without big budgets to support them, they managed to immortalize much of the feeling experienced in those crazy years of Heavy Metal.

9/10 (Package 10/10) … What can I say about this classic that hasn’t already be said? This is the classic of the classics, Motörheads “Ace of Spades”, an album your grandmother probably heard of. Now it’s 40 years since its release. I love this album, especially the title track, “Ace of Spades” “Shoot You in the Back”, “(We Are) The Road Crew” and “The Hammer”. The only song I could have done without is “Fast and Loose”.

6/10 … This is some fun European sleaze from France, released back in 1987 and have more or less been cut everywhere it’s been released. This was a first time watch for me, and all I could think about in the first half was, that of course USA cut it, people are nude and that’s more than a uber christian country can take. The nudity is just that nudity, and some simulated software scenes. But towards the second half when we get some dick biting and sword in vagina scenes that I get was way too much in 1987, and would be too much today for most people to stomach.

Someone who doesn’t appreciate European sleaze, incoherent plots and people who try to make a movie but fail completely would probably give this movie a 2/10 or something, but since I love these things, I rate this higher. I would go even higher if it had more craziness and less pointless dialogue through out the movie.

7/10 … Other reviewers have complained about the lack of gossip about other bandmembers, personally I couldn’t care less since the artists private life more or less has never interest me but the music and recordings in itselfs. My complaint is all the pilot and fencing stories that I have 0% interest in, but I get why it’s in here since it’s a big part of his life.

This is one of these event in history I could cut off my right hand arm to have been at. Ozzy and Judas Priest are 10/10, I liked Mötley Crue’s first two albums before they got to much ”hair metal”. Their set here is also good 8/10, although Vince Neils singing here doesn’t really sound perfect. Quiet Riot, Triumph and Van Halen are not really for me so I haven’t even watched these. Scorpions had very energetic live shows during the 80’s, but unfortunatly there doesn’t seem to have surfaced any source of their show from this day.

8/10 … I love Black Sabbath and I love Ozzy’s early solo stuff up until the early 90’s somewhere. I haven’t even listened to the two latest solo albums since I get a feeling he wants to “be with the times” and have made some “big pant metal” for the only sake to get on the top charts. For fuck sake on the latest record he had guest artists such as Elton John, Post Malone and Travis Scott (?!?!?!?!).

I have a hard time imagine another artist besides Ozzy and Mötley Crue that have lived the same rock’n roll life to its fullest as they have. Maybe Keith Richards (Rolling Stones) and Motörheads Lemmy. Usually I’m not that interested in artists private life, but it’s funny as hell listening to his escapades.

6/10 … Now, here’s my dilemma. I hate to criticize these small companies that in my opinion does an amazing job making these obscure movies available. To me, it’s not just entertaining to see these old flicks, but important historical works so they don’t just fade away into obscurity and becomes an anecdote. But here’s my point, when it’s advertised as ”Brand New 4k Restoration from Original Elements”, you get certain expectations. When you then pop it into your Blu-ray player and it looks like a 5th generation VHS copy with something looking like the green northern lights across the screen throughout more or less the entire movie, then you kind of feel like you have been duped. I get that the source material can be shit, but maybe yiu should tell us about that?

10/10 … If Aliens would land here and ask me to show them one record of each music style we have here on planet earth … this would definitly be the one I’ll show them when presenting Heavy Metal. Judas Priest 1982-84 (Screaming/Defenders) era is the pinnacle of Heavy Metal for me. Both the music, the clothing style, the live performances and sound. This is Heavy Metal …

Metallicas fourth album takes on the oppression of the system. The System that you were told was for your protection. On this track they make the case against the justice system. That it’s not so much about justice for you as it is for those with money and lawyer against lawyer. The lines “Apathy their stepping stone, So unfeeling, Hidden deep animosity, So deceiving” says it all.
