Bobby Riggs was a tennis player and a sexist douche. He was World No. 1 in tennis for three years back in the 30s and 40s, and in 1973 he referred to women’s tennis as inferior and said at the age of 55 he could still beat any woman. He was wrong. –On This Day […]
9/10 … The show in itself is really good, and they travel to all kinds of locations to investigate. Since it’s American produced we get the usual half whispering narrator and some shaky hand held camera to make it more exciting for the general public. But all in all really good.
This escape theory is certainly interesting and since I’m an open minded person, I don’t discard claims like this when there are enough evidence to back them up. But the official story might as well be correct one, we will probably never know with a 100% certainty.
A new era in the history of science began in 1609, when the Italian mathematician Galileo Galilei turned a new instrument – the binoculars – towards the starry sky. However, the worldview of the Catholic Church was threatened by the Italian’s groundbreaking astronomical discoveries, and in 1633 Galileo was brought before the Inquisition – the […]
8/10 … Mr. Gaye had one of the most amazing voices in the history of soul music, but unfortunately with a tormented soul, that we can properly put on his fucked up father. A father that couldn’t give his son praise for his accomplishments, a cross-dressing pastor that gave his son shit for not making ”gods” music 😡, and ultimately killed him the day before Marvin would turn 45. May he rot in his christian hell forever and ever.
Scandals of teachers doing bad stuff in the classroom are all too common and usually full of ick. But sometimes a teacher breaks the rules and it’s the right thing, such as with 24-year-old John Scopes, who decided Tennessee’s law against teaching evolution was simian stupidity. The law was named after an evangelical Christian. Let’s […]
Man is curious and wants to know how the world works. We do not like the idea that one day we will no longer exist. I can imagine how we sat around campfires on a dark night with wolves howling around us, listened to fascinating stories about how the sun is a powerful creature that […]
I would call myself an Agnostic Atheist. It’s like with most things in life, give me proof then I’m not the one who can’t change my mind. But I’m not the kind of person who believes in something just because someone else tell me to. I have on my bookshelf over 200 books about religion […]
On July 15, 1965, Willie W. Brewster was driving home with his coworkers from a nightshift at the Union Foundry, when shots were fired into the car by white supremacist Hubert Damon Strange. Brewster was hit in the neck and died three days afterwards from his wounds. He wasn’t killed for money or a robbery gone wrong, but […]
9/10 … It makes me sick to my stomach to see that Al-Mustafa Shabazz who dies during the investigation gets a hero’s funeral. I don’t care what or how much good he have done in his life afterwards, he let 2 innocent men root in prison and HE KILLED MALCOLM X. He’s a traitor to all black people and the human race. If I ever get to Newark I will piss on his grave! …..
Jim Crow laws were state and local laws that enforced racial segregation in the Southern United States. All were enacted in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by white Democratic-dominated state legislatures after the Reconstruction period. The laws were enforced until 1965. In practice, Jim Crow laws mandated racial segregation in all public facilities in the states of the former Confederate […]
Evidence #538455 of that christian love. The goal was to forcefully christianize the native americans with any means necessary, even at gunpoint. The kids were forbidden to speak their own language, have their traditional look, they were given new names and there are cases upon cases of sexual abuse. These practises where not stopped until […]
10/10 … Amazing documentary about life in New York 1977. This is my #1 place I would go to if I knew how to time travel. I have always loved decadence, it gives me for some reason the feeling of being alive. Here we get to take a trip through the evolution of Hip Hop, with among others KRS-One and Afrika Bambaataa, through porn star Annie Sprinkle and the XXX live shows on 42nd street. The disco scene, the gay scene, the grafitti movement, the serial killer Son of …..
The Torsåker witch trials took place in 1675 in Torsåker parish in Sweden and were the largest witch trials in Swedish history. In a single day 71 people (65 women and 6 men) were beheaded and then burned. The trials began when Johannes Wattrangius of Torsåker parish told Laurentius Christophori Hornæus of Ytterlännäs parish to investigate witchcraft in his parish. Ytterlännäs and Torsåker were both in the Diocese of Härnösand of the Lutheran Church of Sweden. Hornæus […]
This goes under “Random things I find interesting”. It is extremely facinating to watch how my town looked 106 years ago. The streets, the buildings, what people where wearing (seems to have been a law that said everyone must wear hats :-)). Places I now know have high-rises here looks like they’re far out on […]
