I love doom, a really good doom metal record is hard to beat. The problem for me is to find them. I probably reject 99 out of 100 I listen to. Either the music is not how I want it, or the lyrical theme is nonsense, the singer hasn’t got that doom voice I love or something else that doesn’t fit me.
I was looking at the new album releases at a Swedish web store, and I fell for the cover art of Konvents “Puritan Masochism”. I looked them up on Spotify and I don’t think the second track had come to an end before I had ordered the vinyl. This is simply awesome. Just how I want it, a guttural deep voice, the music sounds like the soundtrack to the 1300’s worldwide plague infestation. The title track “Puritan Masochism” is one of these rarities that I can put on over and over again on repeat. The whole album holds the same high standard, with the peaks in just mentioned title track, “The Eye”, “Ropes Pt. I” and “Ropes Pt. II”.
