Crawlspace (Thriller) 1986 [Movie/Review]

Year: 1986
Genre: Thriller
Director: David Schmoellero
Source: DVD Rip/YouTube

A man who runs an apartment house for women is the demented son of a Nazi surgeon who has the house equipped with secret passageways, hidden rooms and torture and murder devices

I asked on a movie forum if anyone had some recomendation about movies with weirdos living inside the walls in other peoples houses or similar. I got recommended this one. Don’t know how I missed this one , it has my favourite creepy guy Klaus Kinski in the lead. And sure he is creepy here, proberly the creepiest I have ever seen him, just wonderful! It has a made-for-TV feeling, and I can’t find any information if it was ever released on the big screen. Although there are real bonkers stuff in this I still wished it would have had more “spying and perversion” than what it has, but that could only be my twisted brain that want that :-).

Supposly taking place somewhere in the USA, but it was filmed at the Empire Studios, Rome, Lazio, Italy.

The director, David Schmoeller has 23 directorial credits to his name, but proberly the best known is his debut full-length movie “Tourist Trap” from 1979.

David Schmoeller had a lot of trouble directing Klaus Kinski. For example, Kinski refused to listen to basic commands such as “action” and “cut”. Schmoeller later made a short film about his problems with Klaus Kinski called Please Kill Mr. Kinski (1999).

I watched a version on YouTube that I guess is a DVD rip or something. Both video and audio is above average I think but I would LOVE to see a deluxe blu-ray version of this with a nice making-of documentary.
