A journalist duo go on a tour of serial killer murder sites with two companions, unaware that one of them is a serial killer himself.
The white trash couple Early & Adele (Brad Pitt and Juliette Lewis) lives in a trailer, Early have just been released from jail and are having a difficult time holding down a job. Brian (David Duchovny) is a writer who’s stuck, and can’t come up with an idea for the book he already got payed for. His girlfriend Carrie (Michelle Forbes) is a photographer longing to get out to California. They decide to go on a roadtrip visiting and writing about famous american Serial killers. They put up a note searching for travelcompany so they can split the gasbills. Here’s where Early and Adele comes into the picture. And off they go …
Juliette Lewis is amazing as the kind of the simple minded white trash girlfriend. This period, the early 90’s was her glory days, ”Cape Fear”, ”Romeo is Bleeding” ”Natural Born Killers”, ”Gilbert Grape”, ”Strange Days” and this one all within 5 years.
Brad Pitt, more or less always incredible and charismatic makes an impressive portrait of a serial killer. His ”living-for-the-moment” personality in this one is simply awesome.
David Duchovny makes more or less the same character as always, calm and just a nice guy with a laidback attitude.
I really love this movie for all the above mentioned reasons. I enjoy the tension of never knowing what Brad Pitts character will do next. A standout moment for me is the scene in the bar when they go to play pool, but I am on the other hand a sucker for when bullies get what’s coming to them.
